ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

This pattern also includes diagrams and charts showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use these as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Among my patterns, Penguin Party is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

The black and white parts of the penguins are made with yardage, such as Kona Snow and Kona Espresso (warm) or Pepper (cool). The Penguins' beaks are made with a gold solid such as Kona Grellow (bright) or Roasted Pecan (muted).

Each penguin's body/sweater can be cut from one 10" x 10" square, or you can cut sweaters for four blocks from an 18" x 21" fat quarter. Penguin sweaters can be made from solids, prints, or from ginghams and plaids, like the ones in my samples.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My samples were free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering squares. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!
