Thistle

These pretty, prickly thistles are made with simple diagonal seams and are perfect for using small pieces of your favorite colorful fabrics.

QUILT AND PILLOW SIZES

Thistle blocks measure 6" wide x 18" tall.

PILLOW

The 24" x 24" Pillow is made with three blocks.

SMALL QUILT

The 42" x 62" Small Quilt is made with 12 blocks.

LARGE QUILT

The 58" x 82" Large Quilt is made with 24 blocks.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

This pattern includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

My sample quilts were made in 2015 with prints from my Rhoda Ruth collection and Essex linen blend colors that are now out of print.

Make a quilt with the same color scheme as my Large Quilt sample using Essex Yarn-Dyed Nautical for the Background Fabric, Kona Peapod for the Leaf Fabric, and Kona Snow, Tangerine, Ruby, Foxglove, Citrus, and Aruba for the Flower Fabrics.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My Large Quilt sample was free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, in a pattern of meandering points.
