The Puppies

Use your favorite fat quarters or 10" x 10" squares to make adorable puppies Smokey, Toby, and Lulu.

QUILT AND PILLOW SIZES

This pattern includes instructions for dog face sampler quilts featuring three different 10" x 10" patchwork blocks.

LARGE QUILT

The 66" x 66" Large Quilt is made with 25 blocks.

SMALL QUILT

The 40" x 52" Small Quilt is made with 12 blocks.

PILLOW

The 20" x 20" pillow is made with one block.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

The pattern also includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Each block includes two different Dog Fabrics and a Dark Solid Detail Fabric for making the Eyes and Noses. The Toby and Lulu blocks also include a Light Solid Detail Fabric.

For the Dog Fabrics, you can use two 10" x 10" squares for each block. Alternately, you can use two fat quarters to make a set of four identical blocks.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My sample quilts were both free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering squares. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!

OPTIONAL GLASSES APPLIQUE

This pattern includes a full-size glasses pattern that you can use to make a raw-edge appliqué for one or more of your blocks.
