The Kittens

Simon, Chrissy, Bacon Bits, Daisy, and Mr. Snuggles combine to make an adorable sampler quilt.

QUILT SIZE

This pattern includes instructions for a 66" x 66" cat sampler quilt featuring five different 8" x 10" patchwork cat blocks: Simon, Chrissy, Bacon Bits, Daisy, and Mr. Snuggles.

The pattern also includes instructions for making a "Plain Cats Quilt" which is a great way to use large-scale print fabrics.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing. Please refer to the pattern back image for quilt sizes and materials requirements.

This pattern includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Because of the larger size of most of the component pieces, The Kittens is one of my easier patterns.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

The cat blocks can be made from fat quarters (18" x 21" each) or fat eighths (9" x 21" each). The fabric will be used as follows:

2 fat quarters, or 6 fat eighths for the 6 Simon blocks
2 fat quarters, or 6 fat eighths for the 6 Chrissy blocks.
2 fat quarters, or 6 fat eighths for the 6 Bacon Bits blocks.
2 fat quarters, or 6 fat eighths for the Mr. Snuggles blocks.
4 fat quarters (divided into 2 pairs), or 12 fat eighths (divided into 6 pairs) for the Daisy blocks.

Different amounts of each fabric will be used and, in some cases, you will have leftover fabric. Refer to the individual project instructions to see exactly how much of each fabric you will need.

OPTIONAL GLASSES APPLIQUE

This pattern includes two different full-size glasses patterns that you can use to make raw-edge glasses appliqués for your blocks.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My sample quilts were both free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!
