Show and Tell

These forest friends are excited to show off their latest finishes at tonight's guild meeting! The fat quarter-friendly pattern includes instructions for making three quilt sizes including 4 different animals (foxes, bunnies, deer, and bears) and their 12 different patchwork quilts.

QUILT SIZES

WALL QUILT

The 24" x 28" Wall Quilt is made with one block.

SMALL QUILT

The 45" x 57" Small Quilt is made with 4 blocks.

LARGE QUILT

The 75" x 85" Large Quilt includes all 12 blocks.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!

This pattern includes a large number of pieces, many of which are small, but the same basic patchwork piecing techniques are used throughout. The pattern includes detailed cutting directions, including charts that show all of the pieces included in each block. The instructions for making each block include both written directions and full-color diagrams for each step.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Show and Tell features Moda's Bella Solids and is made primarily with fat quarters. Each group of 3 blocks (Foxes, Bunnies, Deer, and Bears) in the Large Quilt is made with one fat quarter and one fat eighth of animal-colored fabric, plus 6 or 7 fat quarters of colorful fabrics for the quilts. Refer to the pattern back image below and the fabric charts in the pattern for more details.

The background is Moda's Mochi Linen, a 70% cotton/%30 linen blend, in Natural. If you don't like the idea of using a linen blend, you can substitute Bella Linen (the name of the color is Linen).

USING ELIZABETH'S FAVORITES BELLA SOLIDS FAT QUARTER BUNDLE

The Large Quilt includes all 25 colors in my Elizabeth's Favorite's Bella Solids fat quarter bundle (shipping to stores October 2025). If you want to make the quilt with this bundle, you will also need fat quarters of Bella Daffodil, Acid Green, Primrose, Melon, and Nectar, and fat eighths of Off White, Amber, Bunny Hill Pink, and Feather.

You will also need the Eye and Nose Fabric (Bella Espresso) and Background Fabric (Mochi Linen) described on the pattern back.

My samples were quilted by Emily Hoppe of So Sunny Quilts using Julie Hirt's Posy Patch edge-to-edge design.
