Robots
Robots is a sampler quilt pattern featuring five
fun models. Use this pattern to start your very own robot factory!
QUILT SIZES
SMALL QUILT
The 48" x 48" Small Quilt is made with 2 of each block/model, and is made with 8 fat quarters and 8 charm (5" x 5") squares.
LARGE QUILT
The 69" x 85" Large Quilt is made with 6 of each block/model, and is made with 24 fat quarters and 24 charm (5" x 5") squares.
ABOUT THE PATTERN
This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!
The pattern includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.
Robots includes many fewer diagonal seams than most of my other sampler patterns. There are some small pieces, but the pattern will walk you through the process of sewing them with both diagrams and written instructions for each step.
Among my patterns, Robots is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.
ABOUT THE FABRIC
I made my sample using prints from my Fall 2021 Planetarium and Paintbox collections for Robert Kaufman and Kona Solid coordinates. Page 3 includes a fabric chart showing the colorful fabrics I used in my sample.
ABOUT THE QUILTING
My sample was free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering squares. For longarm quilting, any similarly-dense edge-to-edge design should look great!
