ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

This pattern also includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Among my patterns, Koalas is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Each Koalas block is made with two fat eighths, one fabric for the koala body and a slightly darker fabric for the ears. All blocks also include a Light Solid Detail Fabric for the white details, and a Dark Solid Detail Fabric for the Eyes and Noses.

The Koala Body Fabrics in my Large Quilt sample are Robert Kaufman's Manchester Yarn-Dyed Cottons. The Ear Fabrics are Kona Solids. A list of the fabrics I used is included on Page 10 of the pattern.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My sample quilts were both free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering squares. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!
