ABOUT THE PATTERN
This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!
This pattern includes a large number of pieces, many of which are small, but the same basic patchwork piecing techniques are used throughout. The pattern includes detailed cutting directions, including charts that show all of the pieces included in each block. The instructions for making each block include both written directions and full-color diagrams for each step.
Among my patterns, Foxes in Flannels is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.
ABOUT THE FABRICS
My cover sample was made using Robert Kaufman fabrics including Kona Solids, Essex Yarn-Dyed Linen, Lightweight Denim, and Mammoth Flannels. The pattern includes a detailed fabric chart listing all of the fabrics I used for each project.
There are many different options in Robert Kaufman's Mammoth Flannel line, but sometimes individual skus are discontinued at hard-to-predict intervals. Don't hesitate to substitute other Mammoth Flannel skus, or other plaid flannels entirely, for the Mammoth Flannel skus listed in the pattern's fabric guide. Plaids in blues and greens will look great against the Kona Moss background and orangey fox fabrics.
ABOUT THE QUILTING
My samples were quilted by Emily Hoppe of So Sunny Quilts using Jessica Schick's Woodgrain pattern.
WE CAN WEAR EACH OTHER'S CLOTHES!
Foxes in Flannels is part of a series of animals wearing clothes patterns whose body units can be interchanged to make blocks wearing different outfits. This series also includes Capybara & Sloth, Randolph & Rudy, Yetis in Pajamas, and Basil from The Bunny Bunch.
