Fab Farm

Make your own patchwork farm using conventional piecing techniques. Horse, Cow, Bee, Goat, Sheep, Chicken, Pig, Sunflower, and Strawberry Blocks are included in two quilt sizes.

QUILT SIZES

Fab Farm sampler quilts are made with 9 different blocks.

LARGE QUILT

The Large Quilt in the gallery below is made with four of each block.

SMALL QUILT

The 38" x 39" Small Quilt is made with one of each block.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!

The pattern includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Among my patterns, Fab Farm is rated Skill Level 5 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

The blocks in the Small Quilt are made with 23 fat eighths. The blocks in the Large Quilt are made with 27 fat quarters and 9 fat eighths. The fabric guide on Pages 6 - 8 of the pattern lists all of the fabrics and where they will be used in the quilt.

My sample quilt was made using prints from my Paintbox collection for Robert Kaufman, and Paintbox Solid Coordinates. These prints and precuts are no longer widely available, so I've created a fabric guide for making the Large Quilt with all Kona Solids. You can download that guide below.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My sample was quilted by Emily Hoppe of So Sunny Quilts using Thin Loops by Julie Hirt.
