Delightful Desert

Delightful Desert quilts feature nine plant and animal blocks including Puma, Fawn, Moth, Cottontail, Crane, Ringtail Cat, Coyote, and Jade and Aloe plants.

QUILT SIZES

SMALL QUILT

The 34" x 34" Small Quilt is made with one of each block.

MEDIUM QUILT

The 65" x 65" Medium Quilts shown in the gallery below are made with four of each block.

LARGE QUILT

The 96" x 96" Large Quilt is made with nine of each block.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

This pattern also includes diagrams and charts showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use these as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Each set of Delightful Desert blocks (one of each block) is made with groups of 6 coordinating fat quarters (18" x 21" each). Each group should include a range of value, from lightest (Fabric 1) to darkest (Fabric 6).

You will need 1 group (6 total fat quarters) for the Small Quilt, 4 groups (24 total fat quarters) for the Medium Quilt, or 9 groups (54 total fat quarters) for the Large Quilt.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My samples were free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering squares. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!

ORIGINAL EDITION

Delightful Desert was originally published in 2017 and featured samples made with my Terrarium collection for Robert Kaufman, which is now out of print.
