ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

This pattern also includes diagrams and charts showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use these as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Among my patterns, Cuckoo is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Each block combination (one clock and two flower blocks) is made with two coordinating print fabric fat quarters and 3 contrasting solid fabric strips, each 2-½ x WOF. The fat quarters are used to make the main body of the clock and the flowers and leaves. The strips are used to make the colorful block details.

Packages of precut strips (such as Moda Jelly Rolls or Robert Kaufman Roll-Ups) can be a convenient way to purchase small amounts of many different fabrics at once. However, you do not have to use precut strips for this project. The pattern includes charts and block diagrams that detail exactly what pieces are used to make each block, so you can easily substitute scraps or other small pieces of solid fabrics.

You will also need Clock Face and Clock Hands fabrics such as Kona Snow and Kona Chestnut.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My sample was free-motion longarm quilted in a woodgrain pattern by Gina Pina.
