QUILT & PILLOW SIZES

This pattern includes instructions for making quilts and a pillow with 8" x 12" patchwork fish blocks.

PILLOW

The 24" x 24" Pillow includes 2 blocks.

SMALL QUILT

The 48" x 54" Small Quilt includes 10 blocks.

LARGE QUILT

The 69" x 76" block includes 22 blocks.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!

The pattern includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Chuckles blocks are made in pairs. Two fat eighths (9" x 21" each) are used to make each pair of blocks. The same Light Solid Detail Fabric is used on in all of the blocks in each quilt. 

My sample quilt was made with the following pairs of Robert Kaufman's Kona Solids:

• Ice Frappe and Aruba
• Cypress and Kale
• Corn Yellow and Duckling
• Orange and Kumquat
• Orangeade and Tangerine

The background in Essex Yarn-Dyed Shale. My Dark and Light Solid Detail fabrics (stripes and eyes) are Kona Snow and Kona Espresso. 

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My samples were free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering ripples. For longarm quilting, any similarly-dense edge-to-edge design should look great!
