Casserole

This comfy quilt is the perfect stash-busting project! Piece these folk art-inspired flower medallions using fat eighths, precut 10" x 10" squares, or your favorite scraps.

An updated second edition featuring my Scenery fabric collection for Moda Fabrics will be available in February 2026. Already have the Casserole pattern? You can download a Scenery fabric guide below.

QUILT SIZES

Each Casserole flower medallion block measures 26" x 26". The blocks are sewn together with sashing and Plus Units to make a Small or Large Quilt.

The Large Quilt measures 86" x 86" and includes nine blocks.

The Small Quilt measures 58" x 58" and includes four blocks.

ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!

The pattern includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Among my patterns, Casserole is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

The fabrics in my current samples are made with my Scenery collection for Moda (shipping May 2026). The background is Bella Verdant.

If you have an older version of this pattern, you can download the Scenery fabric guide below.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My sample was quilted by Emily Hoppe of So Sunny Quilts using Post Tiles by Julie Hirt.
