
Capybara & Sloth
These capybaras and sloths are all dressed up in their vacation shirts and shorts! Piece them using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!
QUILT SIZES
SMALL QUILT
The 38" x 46" Small Quilt includes 3 Capybara and 3 Sloth blocks (6 total blocks).

LARGE QUILT
The 68" x 72" Large Quilt includes 9 Capybara and 9 Sloth blocks (18 total blocks).
ABOUT THE PATTERN
This is a patchwork-pieced pattern. The blocks are made entirely of rotary-cut squares and rectangles, and everything is sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!
This pattern includes a large number of pieces, many of which are small, but the same basic patchwork piecing techniques are used throughout. The pattern includes detailed cutting directions, including charts that show all of the pieces included in each block. The instructions for making each block include both written directions and full-color diagrams for each step.

SOLID FABRICS
My cover sample was made using Moda's Bella Solids. The Background is Breeze. Capybaras are made with Sienna and Earth. Sloths are made with Weathered Teak and Coffee. Light Solid Detail Fabric is Warm White/Off White. Dark Solid Detail Fabric is Espresso.
My scrappy sample was made using Robert Kaufman's Kona Solids. The Background is Ice Frappe. Capybaras are made with Roasted Pecan and Mocha. Sloths are made with Taupe and Sable. The Light solid Detail Fabric is Snow. The Dark Solid Detail Fabric is Espresso.
CLOTHES FABRICS
Making the Capybara and Sloth clothes is a great place to use your favorite prints and colorful solids, and the pattern gives you two options for doing this. You can use fat quarters for make sets of 3 blocks with the same clothes, or you can use precut 10" x 10" squares or similarly-sizes scraps to make a unique outfit for each block. Refer to the pattern back for fabric requirements.
For my cover sample, I used fat quarters of Rashida Coleman's Speckled collection and Alexia Marcelle Abegg's Warp & Weft wovens, both for Ruby Star Society. The fabric chart in the pattern lists these fabrics.
For my scrappy sample, I used pieces Robert Kaufman fabrics, including my Sunroom print collection, coordinating Kona Solids, and an assortment of Essex Yarn-Dyed linens and Manchester cottons.
ABOUT THE QUILTING
Both of my samples were quilted by Emily Hoppe of So Sunny Quilts. The cover sample features Simply Sunflowers by Intelligent Quilting. The scrappy sample features Sketch by Jess Ziegler of Longarm League.
