ABOUT THE PATTERN
This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.
This pattern also includes diagrams and charts showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use these as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.
Arctic Feathers blocks include skinny fabric strips that are shortcut pieced (cut a little large and then trimmed down). The pattern will walk you through the process with both diagrams and written instructions for each step.
Among my patterns, Arctic Feathers is rated Skill Level 2 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.
ABOUT THE FABRIC
This quilt was designed for using precut 10" x 10" squares or scraps. You can use all solids, all prints, or a combination of the two. This is a great project for colorblocking monochromatic fabrics, making rainbow-colored blocks, and/or fussy cutting your favorite prints.
FUSSY CUTTING
Arctic Feathers includes full-size patterns for making fussy cutting viewfinders, so you can line everything up just right.
ABOUT THE QUILTING
My samples were free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a woodgrain pattern. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!
