ABOUT THE PATTERN

This is a patchwork pattern. All fabric is rotary cut and sewn together using conventional patchwork piecing.

This pattern also includes a diagram and chart showing all of the pieces needed to make each block. You can use this as a reference while making the pattern projects, or as a guide for making individual blocks and scrappy projects.

Among my patterns, Antonia Tiger is rated Skill Level 3 (of 5). You can read more about skill levels here.

ABOUT THE FABRIC

Each Antonia Tiger block is made with three fat eighths: one Bright Face Fabric, one Soft Face Fabric, and one Light Detail Fabric.

For the biggest impact, use monochromatic fabrics in a variety of values to make each block. The Light Detail Fabric should be the lightest value, and can even be a white tone like Kona Snow. The Soft Face Fabric should be a soft color, darker than the Light Detail Fabric, but lighter than the Bright Face Fabric, which should be the brightest tone in each block. The Dark Solid Detail Fabric to make details including the eyes, nose, and stripes. For best results, this should be a solid fabric that offers a great deal of contrast with all of your other fabrics. I used Kona Pepper in my samples.

My sample quilt was made using low-volume prints from my Fall 2019 Library collection for Robert Kaufman as the Light Detail Fabrics, Manchester Yarn-Dyed Cottons for the Soft Face Fabrics, and Kona Solids for the Bright Face Fabrics. You can download a fabric guide for this quilt below.

ABOUT THE QUILTING

My samples were free-motion quilted by me, on my Janome 1600p, using a pattern of meandering points. For longarm quilting, any similar edge-to-edge design should look great!
