CASSEROLE

Casserole features blocks inspired by the designs on vintage bakeware and is the perfect stash-busting, comfort-quilting project! The pattern includes cutting diagrams for using either 10” squares or fat eighths (9” x 21” each) making it possible to use precuts, your stash, or some combination of the two. This pattern is made for throwing together what you have - just like any good casserole!

The blocks are made entirely of square and rectangular pieces sewn together using conventional patchwork techniques. No templates or paper piecing!

The pattern includes a chart that shows the fabrics I used in my own quilt samples. You can use the same fabric, use my chart as a guide for selecting your own fabrics. Whichever fabrics and colors you use, the guide will help you to distribute them evenly throughout the quilt.

My quilt sample is made with fabrics from my Library print collection, Kona Solids, and Manchester Wovens, all available for wholesale order from Robert Kaufman Fabrics as of April 2019. These fabrics are expected to start showing up in stores in May 2020. Please scroll down for a materials chart.

BLOCK VARIATIONS

Casserole quilt blocks can be made two different ways! It’s easy to change the look of your blocks by pointing the Rainbow Block Units toward the inside or outside of the block, as shown in these diagrams. Both ways use the same cut pieces and the same construction method for the block units, so don’t hesitate to make all your block units first and then play around with the block layout you like best!

CORRECTION

The first printing of this pattern includes an erratum on Page 4, in the directions for Making the Plus Units for the Large Quilt. The third diagram from the top (the one with Fabric 4 in the center) is incorrectly labeled as being for Blocks B and D. It should be for Blocks B and F. Please refer to the corrected diagram at right.

I apologize for this confusion! Please don’t hesitate to contact customer service at info@ohfransson.com with any questions.
