I'm excited to announce that my first fabric collection for Robert Kaufman Fabrics, Rhoda Ruth, will start shipping to stores next month.
Rhoda Ruth is named after my grandmother, Ruth, who decided as a teenager that she would rather be called "Rhoda Ruth" instead. The prints in the collection started with sketches of some of her costume jewelry and grew into a story about three small-town animals (a fox, a giraffe, and a snow leopard) who love to dress up and imagine themselves as incredibly glamorous.
The prints in the collection are scaled for quilting. I've kept the prints bright and monochromatic, because that's what I like to use.
The colors are: Crimson, Cedar, Grellow, Wasabi, Pickle, Bonsai, Graphite, Ultramarine, Jade Green, Aloe, Breakers, Cyan, Celestial, Storm, Cerise, Berry, Sangria, Watermelon, Nectarine, and Peach.
I'm also excited about these boxes of Aurifil 50 weight cotton thread in colors that I've selected to coordinate with Rhoda Ruth. I know that these are available at Fat Quarter Shop. If you carry them or have seen them anywhere else, please let us know in the comments.
Rhoda Ruth will start shipping to stores in September. If you'd like a chance to win some Rhoda Ruth, and the coordinating Aurifil thread now, check out Robert Kaufman's blog. They are currently hosting a block challenge using my Genny and Ruth Quilt Pattern, which is free on the Robert Kaufman site.
Genny and Ruth is my version of the classic Sisters Choice block. My free pattern includes instructions for making a "big sister" version with 20" blocks and a "little sister" version with 10" blocks. It's named, again, after my grandmother, Ruth, and her older sister Genevieve.
It's an easy and fun block to make, so be sure to enter Robert Kaufman's Rhoda Ruth Block Challenge for a chance to win some Rhoda Ruth fabric of your very own!
